Plains Pipeline This project began with a comprehensive feasibility study that set out to define not only the best site and program, but also a vision for a new regional headquarters that would embody the future of the pipeline company's operations. The resulting facility design brings together previously scattered and aging buildings into a single, cohesive campus - one that prioritizes efficiency, elevates the workplace environment, and establishes a contemporary architectural identity that redefines the company's identity. Planned with both present needs and future growth in mind, the design reconciles current operational demands with long-term expansion goals. The program integrates three distinct areas: a shop and warehouse, an operations and training hub, and a divisional office wing. Each component is clearly expressed as distinct spaces that are articulated in the plan and carried through to the exterior, where their forms announce the building's varied functions. Economy and speed drove the choice of a pre-engineered metal building structure, but the design elevates this pragmatic system into an architectural expression that resonates with the company's industrial heritage. Facade materials draw directly from the pipeline industry - galvalume panels with a subtle texture rise from a burnished concrete block base, grounding the building with durability and permanence. Purposefully exposed ductwork delivers conditioned air while simultaneously celebrating the infrastructure that powers the space. Sunshades and signage detailed with rows of pipe offer a literal yet refined homage to the company's core work, uniting function, identity, and symbolism in one architectural gesture.
